Egyptian President Discusses Middle East Stability with Italian Prime Minister

Cairo: Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, received a call from Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the call reviewed developments in the Middle East, during which President El Sisi underscored the importance of preserving regional peace and stability by building on the recent ceasefire between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and launching a serious negotiation track to resolve outstanding issues.

President El Sisi also reviewed Egypt's intensive efforts with various parties to halt escalation, reaffirming Egypt's full support for the security and stability of Arab states and its firm rejection of any violations of their sovereignty or threats to their peoples' resources.

On her part, the Italian Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Egypt's efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and agreed on the importance of maintaining regional stability.

Prime Minister Meloni also stressed the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz to international navigation without imposing fees, safeguarding the security of Gulf states, and reaching an agreement on Iran's nuclear programme that includes relevant guarantees, while taking all necessary measures to prevent a renewed outbreak of war. She affirmed Italy's commitment to enhancing cooperation and political coordination with Egypt to achieve these objectives.

The call also addressed developments in Lebanon, where the Italian Prime Minister expressed her country's aspiration to launch direct negotiations leading to a ceasefire.
