Egypt President Affirms Support for GCC States and Warns Against Escalation

Cairo: His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, affirmed Egypt's full support for the GCC states and its solidarity with them in confronting challenges and crises. He reiterated Cairo's firm rejection of any attacks targeting Arab countries and warned of the dangers of military escalation and its repercussions on regional stability and economic security.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the remarks were made during HE the President's attendance at the annual iftar banquet hosted by the Egyptian Armed Forces, held to mark the anniversary of the 10th of Ramadan Victory, in the presence of senior commanders of the armed forces and state officials.

HE President El-Sisi delivered a speech reviewing the latest regional developments. He noted that Egypt, through its international contacts, has stressed the importance of de-escalation and preventing the conflict from widening, warning that miscalculations could lead to serious consequences affecting the regional balance.

HE President El-Sisi stated that Egypt, in line with its longstanding regional role, has conducted intensive contacts with leaders of GCC states and several Arab leaders to reaffirm its rejection of any threat to the security of states and to stress Egypt's full support for them.

His Excellency also warned of the risks posed to international navigation, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, noting the potential impact on global energy supplies and prices and the resulting repercussions on regional and international economies. He also referred to the effects on navigation in the Suez Canal due to the current regional tensions.

HE the President concluded by stressing that Egypt is closely monitoring developments and has taken all necessary precautions to deal with various scenarios, noting that continued conflicts in the region impose additional challenges that require vigilance and efforts to restore stability.
