Manama: Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council Board of Trustees, met with a delegation from Times Higher Education, led by Eshan Khadar, Senior Advisory Director.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was attended by Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al Jahromi, Secretary General of the Higher Education Council. The Times Higher Education delegation presented a detailed report on the first phase of its collaborative project with the Higher Education Council in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The project aims to develop a national strategy for higher education and research, including an assessment of the current state of the sector.
The delegation also provided insights from their visits to 22 institutions across Bahrain, including higher education institutions, government bodies, and private entities. They gathered data and feedback from various stakeholders and outlined key observations and recommendations.
Dr. Juma highlighted the significance of the partnership with THE, a global leader in university rankings and performance analysis. He commended the initial steps taken to lay the foundation for a comprehensive strategy for higher education and research in the Kingdom.
In January, the Higher Education Council announced a partnership with Times Higher Education to develop a comprehensive strategy for higher education and research. The initiative aims to enhance institutional performance, further develop regional and international competitiveness, and establish programmes and initiatives that support the continued development of the higher education sector in Bahrain.
