Dubai Launches Second Hatta Farming Festival

Dubai: Dubai Municipality has launched the second edition of the Hatta Farming Festival as part of the 'Dubai Farms' programme, led by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council. The festival is scheduled to run from January 18-22 at Leem Lake and will feature 25 Emirati farmers, homesteaders, and agricultural companies. The event aims to showcase products, foster collaboration, and support the UAE's agricultural market.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the festival is held under the Hatta Winter initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The initiative encourages residents and visitors to explore Hatta's unique offerings during the cooler months. The event aims to position Hatta as a leading agri-tourism destination, supporting sustainable farming, and promoting its role in Dubai's development vision.

The festival is aligned with the Hatta Comprehensive Development Plan and aims to enhance economic and tourism opportunities in the region. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dhahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, highlighted the UAE's commitment to sustainable national food security, emphasizing initiatives like the 'Plant the Emirates National Programme.'

Dubai Municipality is providing significant support to Hatta farmers through resources such as fertilizers, seeds, pest control materials, and training in modern farming methods. This year's festival will feature exhibitions of agricultural and livestock products, workshops, and expert discussions. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about modern farming techniques, hear success stories, and participate in livestock auctions.

Awards will be presented to outstanding farmers, along with guidance on sustainable practices, further promoting the festival's goals of innovation and sustainability in agriculture.
