Manama: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the 'King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence', highlighted the role of Bahraini youth in promoting peace, dialogue, and sustainable development, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. On the occasion of Bahraini Youth Day, the minister commended their commitment to national identity and values.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister praised the youth's role in supporting Bahrain's development under the leadership of His Majesty the King, the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs. He highlighted the 'King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence' focus on empowering youth through training and educational programmes.
The minister commended the active participation of Bahraini youth in the Joint Postgraduate Diploma Programme on Peaceful Coexistence, organised in cooperation with the United Nations University for Peace (UPEACE) and the GIOYA Higher Education Institution in Malta. He also noted their strong engagement in the King Hamad Youth Leadership Programme for Peaceful Coexistence and their involvement in other educational and awareness-raising programmes and workshops conducted in partnership with international institutions.
The minister stated that the Centre continues its efforts to prepare and equip Bahraini youth to advance global initiatives that promote the values of tolerance, peace, and service to humanity. These efforts are rooted in the foundations established by His Majesty the King, including the launch of the Bahrain Declaration on freedom of religion and belief, the King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment in partnership with the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the King Hamad Award for Peaceful Coexistence and Tolerance.
These initiatives, widely recognised by the international community, were recently reflected in the UN General Assembly's adoption of the Centre's initiative to establish the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence. He highlighted that Bahraini Youth Day is a valued national occasion through which the Centre renews its appreciation for the efforts of its talented youth staff.
He emphasised the Centre's commitment to sustaining its educational and training programmes, as well as its community and international partnerships. He underscored that developing the skills, creativity, and contributions of youth-as ambassadors and influential leaders promoting coexistence, tolerance, and human cohesion-remains a top priority in building a prosperous and sustainable society and a more peaceful, just, and flourishing world.
