Manama: Abdulla Mohamed Alahmed, the CEO of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), announced the launch of the Centre's 'Non-Resident Fellowship' program. He emphasised that this initiative represents a strategic and a qualitative addition to Derasat's journey, reflecting its commitment to investing in global intellectual capital, and leveraging global expertise to produce in-depth, reliable knowledge that supports national policymaking and reinforces the Kingdom of Bahrain's position as a regional and international knowledge hub.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the CEO added that the strength of think tanks lies in the diversity of their research networks and their flexibility in attracting creative talent. He said that the newly launched program aims to build a sustainable collaborative ecosystem capable of generating diverse and innovative ideas and delivering in-depth analyses that closely follow global transformations and support sustainable development paths.
The Non-Resident Fellowship involves engaging a distinguished group of researchers and academics from within Bahrain and abroad in the Centre's research outputs and activities without a formal employment relationship. This opens broader horizons for collaboration, enhances Derasat's openness to diverse expertise, and builds upon best global practices applied in leading think tanks. The programme contributes to enriching scientific output, expanding the expert network, participating in intellectual events, and providing high-quality advisory services to various sectors.
The programme targets specialists from within the Kingdom of Bahrain and abroad in the core areas of the Centre's work, which includes strategic and international affairs, economics, energy, and the environment. This ensures diverse expertise that aligns with national and regional priorities. Admission to the programme is based on clear academic and professional requirements, including holding a degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant field, as well as having a distinguished research and professional record that reflects practical experience and solid scholarly contributions. This adds value to the participation of non-resident researchers and enriches the Centre's intellectual output.
