Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, has expressed his approval of the recent directives issued by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The directives involve taking necessary legal and constitutional measures to propose a draft law aimed at facilitating the payment of April salaries for Bahrainis insured in private sector companies through the unemployment insurance fund. Furthermore, the directives call for the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) to initiate a programme focused on deferring loans and providing liquidity support for the economy and financial sector.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Speaker Al Musallam emphasized that these directives are essential for supporting Bahraini citizens and the private sector. They are also aimed at bolstering financial and banking stability, as well as protecting national employment and economic activities. The Speaker highlighted that the initiatives align with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which prioritizes the welfare of Bahraini citizens and families.
The directives seek to maintain living stability, mitigate negative effects on citizens and private sector entities, alleviate pressures on businesses, and support local market stability. These measures contribute to the ongoing sustainability of economic activities within Bahrain. Al Musallam noted that the Crown Prince's directives are consistent with proposals previously submitted by the Council of Representatives to the government, demonstrating a collaborative effort between legislative and executive bodies for the benefit of the nation and its people.
The Speaker assured that the Council is prepared to provide full legislative support for the draft law once it is referred, emphasizing the urgency and importance of the matter.
