Beijing: His Excellency President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China received His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025.
According to Bahrain News Agency, President Jinping expressed China's support for Azerbaijan's membership in the SCO. He highlighted the importance of improving the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor and expanding cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, and energy. President Jinping also emphasized advancing new growth sectors like the digital economy, green development, and artificial intelligence.
President Aliyev stated Azerbaijan's readiness to enhance cooperation with China in economy and trade, science and technology, connectivity, and tourism. He conveyed Azerbaijan's willingness to work closely with China within the SCO framework to promote regional and global peace and development.
The meeting concluded with the signing of several bilateral cooperation agreements in areas including artificial intelligence, science and technology innovation, finance, and media. Azerbaijan is currently a dialogue partner of the SCO.
