Manama: The Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) has approved the racing calendar for the 2025-2026 season, set to commence on Friday, October 31. This calendar showcases a comprehensive program of both local and international races, supported by new development initiatives in line with the Club's vision to enhance its technical and administrative capabilities.
According to Bahrain News Agency, this decision follows directives from the Club's High Committee, led by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister's Court. The aim is to establish the Kingdom as a premier destination in the global horse racing arena.
Yusuf Osama Buheji, CEO of REHC, highlighted that the upcoming season will build on past successes, marking a significant leap in race quality and event organization. A standout feature of the season is His Majesty the King's Cup Festival, with prize money increased to $400,000 following its elevation to Group 3 status last season. This event is expected to draw elite participants from international studs and affirm the race's international significance. The festival will take place over two days, March 5-6, 2026.
Buheji also noted the continued success of international races, including the Bahrain International Trophy (Group 2), now in its seventh edition. Scheduled for Friday, November 14, the event will feature prominent global participants and be broadcast live to over 100 countries.
The Bahrain Turf Series will feature 12 races across several stages, beginning on December 19, with subsequent rounds on January 2, 16, 29, and February 19, 2026, culminating on March 5, 2026. Additionally, the Crown Prince's Cup Festival will occur on January 29-30, 2026, with the season finale set for Friday, April 17, 2026.
Buheji expressed gratitude to partners and sponsors for their support, which has significantly contributed to the Club's success and the Kingdom's enhanced regional and international standing. He noted that night races, a popular addition last season, will continue, attracting international participants and diversifying the public experience.
The REHC is also introducing an electronic ticketing system through its website, offering various ticket categories with different services and benefits. The events area will feature a range of entertainment activities, including special celebrations for national occasions such as National Day and Ramadhan Nights Festival, alongside public competitions.
Infrastructure improvements include a new main entrance gate and a dedicated public street to facilitate traffic and enhance the overall experience. The Future Stars Series, dedicated to locally bred horses, will also return for its second edition, promoting local talent and production.
