Mumbai: Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), highlighted the significance of the UAE's economic relationship with India during his official visit to Mumbai. He engaged in bilateral talks with Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Industry and Commerce of India, and interacted with prominent members of India's business community.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Zeyoudi's discussions with Goyal centered on the achievements of the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which came into effect in 2022. The talks emphasized sectors that could better utilize the market access provisions provided by CEPA.
Following this, Al Zeyoudi participated in several meetings with key stakeholders from the logistics, agriculture, healthcare, and technology sectors. A business roundtable was organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). These meetings aimed to align priorities, and enhance trade and investment flows.
Al Zeyoudi also met with leaders from the pharmaceutical and food industries. The meetings involved discussions on export performance, addressing existing concerns, exploring ways to boost bilateral trade, and identifying new areas for cooperation and collaboration.
