Manama: Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, Chief of Police, attended the graduation ceremony for participants of specialised maritime training courses organised by the Maritime Training Wing of the Coast Guard. The courses saw attendance from personnel belonging to the Coast Guard, the General Directorate of Civil Defence, the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), the National Guard, and participants from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Lt. Gen. Al Hassan stated that the organisation of these specialised maritime courses aligns with General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior’s, commitment to enhancing readiness and boosting the efficiency of security and military personnel in line with the highest professional standards. This initiative aims to develop field capabilities and foster integration and coordination among various security and military entities at both local and regional levels.
Lt. Gen. Al Hassan highlighted that specialised training programmes are crucial for academically and practically qualifying participants, enhancing their technical and leadership skills, and equipping them to apply their knowledge effectively to handle various conditions and challenges in maritime environments with high efficiency.
The training included the Surface Officers Course, which aims to equip officers with comprehensive knowledge of deck operations, search and investigation procedures, and related legal aspects. Additionally, the Boat Commanders Course was designed to prepare trainees to command vessels and manage various maritime navigation systems. The Joint Foundational Diving Course aimed to elevate participants to a professional level in diving and search-and-rescue operations, enhance their physical fitness and endurance, and strengthen their ability to face operational challenges while performing their duties.
Lt. Gen. Al Hassan honoured the course participants, praising the Coast Guard for preparing and implementing these high-quality programmes and for its dedication to providing an advanced training environment that boosts efficiency and enhances operational capabilities. He encouraged the participants to continue their path of development and excellence in performance.
Moreover, he welcomed the participation of personnel from the GCC countries and expressed hope for further cooperation and expanded exchange of expertise in future engagements.
