Bahrain Ambassador to US Joins Sports Diplomacy Forum on Formula 1

Washington: Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States of America, participated in a panel discussion at the Sports Diplomacy Forum organized by the Meridian International Centre. The forum, titled “Fast Lanes and Global Gains: Formula 1’s Economic and Diplomatic Growth,” explored Bahrain’s pioneering role in the Middle East as the first country to host a Formula 1 race and its significance as a regional hub for dialogue and international engagement.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions emphasized Formula 1’s impact on economic diversification in Bahrain and the multifaceted uses of the Bahrain International Circuit. The circuit not only hosts a variety of events like drag racing and safety testing for international companies but also serves as a platform for cultural exchange and dialogue.

The session highlighted the importance of sports in fostering connections between different cultures, especially in light of new direct flights between New York and Manama. These developments allow visitors to experience global sporting events alongside Bahraini cultural offerings.

The Ambassador pointed out that ongoing investments in sports and infrastructure are crucial for supporting Bahrain’s economic diversification and achieving long-term development goals.
