Manama: Bahrain's parliamentary delegation, led by Jalila Alawi Al Sayed, Chairperson of the Services Committee at the Council of Representatives, participated remotely in a seminar organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) focused on ways to ensure quality education for children and strengthen education systems for the future.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the seminar explored concrete steps that parliamentarians can take to ensure the effective implementation of education policies at the national and local levels. It also addressed how parliaments can utilise their oversight and budgetary powers to tackle infrastructure deficiencies in schools, raise the quality of education, reduce dropout rates, and promote lifelong learning. This is particularly significant in the context of rapidly evolving labour markets, technological advancement, and during times of conflict and crisis.
This event forms part of a series of virtual seminars hosted by the IPU. These seminars aim to exchange ideas, perspectives, and experiences among parliamentarians, with the goal of informing on legislation, budgeting, and policies that improve access to and the quality of education.
