Bahrain’s Parliamentary Delegation Engages in GCC and GRULAC Coordination Meeting

Manama: Bahrain's parliamentary delegation participated in the coordination meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Group of Latin America and the Caribbean (GRULAC), held in Uzbekistan. Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, and Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, represented Bahrain's parliamentary delegation.

According to Bahrain News Agency, on behalf of the GCC, Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi, member of the UAE's Federal National Council and Representative of the Arab Group at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), chaired the meeting. On behalf of GRULAC, Manzoor Nadir, Speaker of the National Assembly of the 12th Parliament of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, chaired the meeting.

The meeting reviewed cooperation between the two sides, as well as ways to develop parliamentary relations through the exchange of expertise and enhancing coordination in the Global Parliamentary Forum. The meeting also discussed mechanisms for coordinating positions on the issues on the agenda of the 150th IPU Assembly and the 215th session of the Governing Council of the Union.

GRULAC is one of the six geopolitical groups of the IPU. It includes parliaments from more than 30 countries in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. GRULAC works to enhance coordination among its members on issues of common interest within the Union.
