Tashkent: Abdulnabi Salman, the First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives and a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Peace and International Security Committee, participated in the committee's meeting during the 150th IPU Assembly in Tashkent. The meeting focused on the role of parliaments in advancing the two-state solution in Palestine.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Abdulnabi Salman underscored the Kingdom of Bahrain's diplomatic efforts under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain continues to advocate for the Palestinian cause. As Chair of the 33rd Arab Summit, Bahrain has called for an international peace conference and supports full United Nations membership for Palestine.
Salman highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in resolving conflicts and fostering peace amid global challenges. He also welcomed the United Nations' adoption of January 28 as the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence, an initiative based on Bahrain's proposal.
Further emphasizing Bahrain's active role in international forums, Salman commended the collaboration between the Council of Representatives, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relevant entities in establishing the Parliamentary Diplomacy Diploma Programme. This initiative has bolstered Bahrain's parliamentary presence both regionally and internationally, contributing to efforts aimed at promoting global security and stability.
