Tashkent: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Head of the Parliamentary Delegation, held a meeting with Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the Algerian People's National Assembly and President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 150th IPU General Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was attended by key figures, including Dalal Jassim Al Zayed, member of the Shura Council; MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan; MP Dr. Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed; MP Dr. Mahdi Abdulaziz Al Showaikh; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Council of Representatives; and Kareema Mohammed Al Abbasi, Secretary General of the Shura Council. Both speakers stressed the significance of boosting Arab parliamentary coordination in international forums and supporting crucial Arab issues, especially the Palestinian matter.
Both leaders praised the solid relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, highlighting the efforts to strengthen ties in various sectors. They acknowledged the dedication to these relations by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of Algeria.
The discussion underscored the importance of advancing Bahraini-Algerian relations and fostering partnerships that align with the shared interests of both nations. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing parliamentary cooperation.
Additionally, they deliberated on coordinating Arab parliamentary stances concerning the emergency item on the IPU agenda, which pertains to support for the Palestinian cause and ongoing Israeli actions. They stressed the necessity of aligning positions to gain majority backing for the proposal.
The meeting also delved into ways to bolster joint parliamentary cooperation, share expertise and facilitate mutual visits, coordinate positions in parliamentary forums, and continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas, particularly in the parliamentary domain. The activation of agreements and the role of friendship committees were also discussed, aiming to benefit both countries and their citizens.
