Bahrain’s Parliamentary Delegation Advocates for Unified Support for Palestine at IPU Assembly

Tashkent: Bahrain's parliamentary delegation, led by Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, participated in the consultative meetings of the Asian and Islamic Parliamentary Groups on the sidelines of the 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Tashkent. The delegation called for stronger Asian and Islamic parliamentary coordination to support the Palestinian cause and address humanitarian challenges. Discussions focused on aligning positions to support an emergency item on Gaza and ensuring the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Fakhro emphasised the need for a unified position among Asian, Islamic, and African parliamentary blocs. MP Ahmed Sabah Al Salloom proposed nominating an Asian candidate for the next IPU Secretary-General and commended Dr. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, for her leadership of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.

The delegation included MP Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, MP Ahmed Sabah Al Salloom, MP Dr. Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed, and MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan.
