Tashkent: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Head of the Parliamentary Delegation, met with Professor Dr. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Tashkent.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam highlighted the strong ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Azerbaijan, supported by the leaderships of both countries, and emphasized the importance of boosting economic and parliamentary cooperation. He also highlighted Bahrain's support for Gafarova's leadership of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Gafarova commended the Kingdom's role in promoting regional stability, interfaith tolerance, and support for humanitarian causes. She also commended Bahrain's parliamentary delegation for its active role in international forums and support for sustainable development and human rights.
The meeting was attended by Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council; MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan; MP Dr. Mahdi Abdulaziz Al Showaikh; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Council of Representatives; and Kareema Mohammed Al Abbasi, Secretary General of the Shura Council.
