Bahraini Ambassador to UK hosts Iftar banquet for representatives of religions

London, The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, hosted an Iftar banquet in the presence of leaders and representatives of the various Islamic, Christian, Jewish, Hindu and Baha’i faiths in London, in the presence of Lord Muhammad Altaf Sheikh, Member of the House of Lords, Bishop John Calrachal, Deputy Ambassador of the Holy See representing the Papal Embassy in London, and members of the British House of Commons.

The Ambassador delivered a speech in which he affirmed the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to consolidate the values of dialogue and peaceful coexistence among various religions, cultures and civilisations, as well as enhance the Kingdom’s position as a beacon of tolerance in the region and the world, In light of its awareness of the importance of the role of religious leaders in building societies on foundations of friendship and coexistence among different religious groups and sects, and joint work towards a world of peace and love.

The attendees unanimously agreed on the importance of dialogue among religions and cultures.

In this regard, Krish Rafal, Director of the “Faith in Leadership”, underlined the great influence of religious leaders in the stability and prosperity of societies with religious pluralism by establishing humanitarian principles based on dialogue, understanding and mutual respect.

The Director-General of the Islamic Cultural Centre in London, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Debian, stressed the importance of dialogue and coexistence among religions, and to know their truth, values, and lofty human and moral principles without distortion.

Rabbi Helen Freeman expressed her happiness to participate in this first-of-its-kind table, in a civilised atmosphere calling for tolerance for the benefit of stability and prosperity of the various spectrums of society.

The attendees, who come from different religions, expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Bahraini Ambassador for his kind invitation and interest in providing such an atmosphere that promotes the principles of coexistence, tolerance, and human brotherhood, expressing their belief and appreciation for the approach of the Kingdom of Bahrain that supports noble human values, tolerance, moderation and coexistence among different religions, cultures, and civilisations.
