Manama: Bahrain participated in the second edition of the Asian Tennis Federation Junior Championship, delivering an impressive performance and securing first place in all competition categories, highlighting the sport's recent progress in the Kingdom.
According to Bahrain News Agency, in the boys' singles competition, Ahmed Al Sayed was crowned champion for the second consecutive week after defeating his brother, Talal Al Sayed, in the final in straight sets, with scores of 6-1 and 6-4. Ahmed retained the title he had won the previous week by beating Saudi player Ahmed Sarouji in the final.
Talal Al Sayed also performed well throughout the tournament, reaching the final after overcoming several skilled players from Saudi Arabia and other Asian countries in the earlier rounds. In the girls' singles competition, Bahraini player Salma Farajallah successfully defended her title for the second consecutive week by defeating Saudi player Fatima Al Baajari, who once again secured second place. Farajallah overcame Al Baajri in the final with set scores of 6-3 and 6-4.
In the doubles competition, the Bahraini duo Hashem Al Toublani and Abdulrahman Al Doseri were crowned champions after defeating the pair of Saudi player Mohammed Al Yami and Indian player Parth Sani in the final, with a score of 6-2, 6-2. At the conclusion of the championship, Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Tennis Federation, awarded the winners of all three competition categories.
Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa noted that these accomplishments reflect positively on the Federation's efforts and confirm that its development strategies for junior players are progressing as planned. He emphasised the importance of building a strong foundation of emerging talent to drive future successes and honourable results for the sport. He also commended the dedication, discipline, and teamwork shown by the Bahraini players throughout the tournament and emphasised the Federation's commitment to continuing its efforts to support player development and provide an environment conducive to growth and achievement.
