Manama, Bahrain proudly announced its selection as the host nation for the inaugural First World Para Taekwondo Poomsae Championships - Bahrain 2024 and the Bahrain Para Taekwondo Open 2024. In an official signing ceremony, Ali Mohamed Al Majed, Secretary General of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee and Dr. Chungwon Choue, President of the World Taekwondo Federation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to confirm these two global Para Taekwondo sporting events scheduled for November 26-27, and November 29, respectively. The announcement coincides with the World Taekwondo Federation's attendance at the largest International School Games (ISF) event in history, the ISF is held in the Kingdom under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and ongoing until October 31. The Secretary General of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee expressed his pride in Bahrain's selection as the host for these global Para Taekwondo sporting events, extending his appreciation to the World Taekwondo Fe deration for its confidence in Bahrain as a world - class sporting hub and premier destination for sports tourism, along with the Bahrain Taekwondo Federation. Al Majed highlighted the significance of hosting sport events as integral to Bahrain's efforts in advancing the sports sector and promoting an inclusive community culture that embraces all talents. He emphasised that these championships not only encourage the participation of athletes of all abilities but also reinforce values of empowerment and support for those with Impairments, enhancing both local and international sporting landscapes with inspiring success stories. Al Majed further noted the important role of these global events in building Bahraini expertise across technical, medical and operational domains within sports, thereby fostering an environment that nurtures talent across various fields and abilities. On his part, Dr. Chungwon Choue praised the productive collaboration with the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, expressing his appreciatio n for Bahrain's commitment to establishing itself as a global sporting destination and a supportive platform for Para athletes from around the world to showcase their skills. He affirmed the Federation's confidence in Bahrain's ability to deliver a successful Bahrain Para Taekwondo Open 2024 and the first - ever First World Para Taekwondo Poomsae Championships - Bahrain 2024, marking a historic milestone for the sport.
