Manama:Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, welcomed Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council of Qatar and representative of the Arab Group on the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam emphasized Bahrain's dedication to joint Arab action under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He stressed the importance of Arab unity and coordinated efforts to enhance solidarity, protect common interests, and ensure regional security and stability.
Al Musallam expressed gratitude for the Executive Committee of the Arab IPU's decision during its 43rd session in Egypt to approve a draft emergency item submitted by Bahrain's Parliamentary Division. This item will be included in the agenda of the 153rd General Assembly of the IPU, set to take place in Tanzania.
He highlighted the significance of Arab parliamentary diplomacy in fostering coordination and consultation, which brings Arab opinions closer on pressing issues. Al Musallam noted that such diplomacy aids in forming common Arab positions in international forums on key matters like protecting international maritime corridors and freedom of navigation, thereby supporting global efforts to enhance security and peace.
