Manama:The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, in collaboration with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), organized a workshop titled "BIM Awareness and Fundamentals." This event was attended by engineering offices and relevant entities to discuss the basics of Building Information Modelling (BIM).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the workshop is part of the Ministry's initiative to acquaint professionals in the construction sector with the latest advancements in BIM. The goal is to prepare them for future development requirements of the Benayat system.
The workshop introduced BIM and differentiated it from traditional computer-aided design (CAD), emphasizing its role in enhancing engineering workflows with improved accuracy, efficiency, and coordination among various project disciplines and parties. It also addressed the practical application of BIM, highlighting its benefits in reducing errors and engineering conflicts, improving information exchange among work teams, and streamlining project review and approval procedures.
Additionally, the workshop outlined the roadmap for digital permits under the Benayat system, including the integration of BIM models and IFC files into the submission and review of permit applications. This prepares the sector for advanced stages in building permit procedure development.
The Ministry emphasized that familiarizing engineering offices and relevant entities with these requirements is crucial for keeping pace with digital developments in the construction system. This step enhances readiness to meet BIM requirements in future Benayat system development stages.
