Bahrain Space Agency Joins World Economic Forum’s Initiative to Promote National Space Policies

Manama: The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) has been selected to participate in the development of the National Space Strategy Toolkit, part of an initiative led by the World Economic Forum (WEF). This initiative aims to support countries in building sustainable, efficient, and targeted space strategies that maximize the societal and economic benefits of space technologies and applications.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Toolkit was developed in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and provides step-by-step guidance, evidence-based recommendations, and quantitative insights derived from global best practices. It includes a supporting White Paper to assist countries in developing comprehensive space programs. The Toolkit addresses the increasing complexity of the space sector by promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic alignment. It highlights the role of space in advancing sustainable development, climate resilience, and global governance, while also addressing emerging challenges such as cybersecurity in space systems.

Rasha Al Amad, Chief of Strategic Planning at the Bahrain Space Agency, stated that the Agency's contribution to the development of this Toolkit is built upon its global reputation and continuous success in achieving its strategic objectives, which were set according to clear standards comparable to the best global practices in the space sector. Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri, Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, played a key role in establishing this collaboration by participating in all meetings of the initiative since its launch and contributed insights that significantly improved the Toolkit.

The Toolkit has been under continuous development since October 2024 through a series of consultation workshops and meetings involving more than 36 participants from 19 countries. This collaborative approach has ensured stakeholder engagement and progressive improvements to the Toolkit, with the official launch scheduled for September 2025.
