Bahrain Olympic Committee Supports Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani’s Candidacy for OCA Presidency

Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, has affirmed Bahrain's unwavering support for Gulf sports leaders aspiring for international positions. This stance aligns with the principles of joint Gulf cooperation in the sports sector, aimed at advancing Gulf personnel for regional, continental, and international roles.

According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed the Bahrain Olympic Committee's endorsement of Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, for the presidency of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad is acknowledged as a prominent Gulf sports figure who has occupied significant international roles, including First Vice-President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), contributing to achievements for Qatar, the region, and Asia.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad praised the strategic vision outlined by Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad in his candidacy for the OCA presidency. This vision is built on supporting development initiatives, fostering cooperative efforts in governance and sports administration, and enhancing the infrastructure and institutional capabilities of member National Olympic Committees.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad highlighted the strong sports-related ties between Bahrain and Qatar and reiterated his support for Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad's candidacy in the OCA presidential elections.
