Manama: The Bahrain National Commission for Education, Science, and Culture recently convened its first meeting under the leadership of Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the Minister of Education. The meeting was attended by committee members and invited guests.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on defining the roles and tasks of the committee members to achieve its objectives. A primary goal is to enhance communication between relevant government and private institutions and key international organizations, such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO), the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO), and the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States.
The Chairman and committee members reviewed the commission's formation and history, along with the responsibilities of regional and international organizations towards it. Discussions included areas of common cooperation in education, culture, and science, as well as participation in general conferences and executive councils.
The Education Minister highlighted the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education. This prize represents a significant outcome of cooperation between the commission and UNESCO. Members were updated on preparations for the 20th-anniversary celebration of the award, set to take place in October in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to enhance cooperation and coordination among members through joint efforts to achieve the commission's goals.
