Kuwait city: The Kingdom of Bahrain participated in the 42nd Plenary Meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF). Shaikha May bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of the Financial Intelligence National Centre (FINC), Chairperson of the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism Committee, and Vice President of MENAFATF, led Bahrain's delegation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting brought together experts from member states, observers, and representatives of regional and international organizations. The agenda focused on the latest developments, risks, and priorities related to combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing.
Shaikha May bint Mohammed emphasized the need for enhanced regional cooperation and the exchange of expertise among member states. She highlighted how these efforts contribute to developing national frameworks and improving the effectiveness of joint initiatives to combat financial crimes and emerging risks.
The meeting also reviewed topics concerning compliance with international standards and the effectiveness of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing systems. Additionally, the group's regional priorities for the upcoming phase were discussed, underscoring the continuous commitment to tackling financial crimes.
