Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain has issued a strong condemnation of the repeated missile and drone attacks by Iran against the State of Kuwait. These actions have been labeled as a violation of Kuwait's sovereignty and a direct threat to its security. Furthermore, Bahrain has described these attacks as a breach of international law, the United Nations Charter, the principles of good neighbourliness, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, ultimately undermining regional peace and stability.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain expressed complete solidarity with Kuwait and affirmed its support for all legitimate measures that Kuwait might take to protect its sovereignty and the well-being of its citizens and residents. The statement highlighted Bahrain's appreciation for the Kuwaiti Armed Forces' readiness in intercepting the attacks, emphasizing the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states' right to self-defence under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and the GCC Joint Defence Agreement.
The Bahraini ministry also called upon the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities by taking a firm stance against Iran's aggressive actions in the region. It urged for immediate efforts to ensure maritime safety in the Strait of Hormuz and to prevent the targeting of civilian and commercial vessels, in compliance with international law, to maintain global peace, security, and prosperity.
