Manama: Bahrain marked World Tourism Day by emphasizing its achievements in the tourism sector and its contributions to the national economy under the ongoing Tourism Strategy 2022-2026. Sara Ahmed Buhiji, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), highlighted the significance of this occasion as a platform to showcase the advancements Bahrain has made in tourism.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Buhiji discussed how this year's theme, 'Tourism and Sustainable Transformation', aligns with Bahrain's commitment to integrate global sustainability goals into the tourism industry. This includes leveraging smart technologies, digital solutions, and environmentally responsible practices across various destinations and facilities.
Buhiji emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to promote sustainable tourism and highlighted the role of private sector partners in developing innovative and eco-conscious services. These initiatives aim to enhance visitor experiences while also addressing social and environmental objectives.
She reiterated that Bahrain is advancing with a clear strategy to foster sustainable and environmentally responsible tourism.
