Bahrain and Egypt Sign MoU on Cultural Heritage Cooperation

Cairo: As part of the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Bahrain and Egypt have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on cooperation in the fields of antiquities and museums. The agreement was formalized by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, and Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance of Egypt.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), emphasized the historical and cultural bonds shared by Bahrain and Egypt. He noted that the MoU is a testament to the ongoing efforts of both nations to strengthen cultural relations and reflects a shared cultural vision.

The MoU's objectives include promoting joint scientific research and facilitating the exchange of temporary exhibitions and artefacts. Additionally, it aims to organize lectures, seminars, and workshops on topics related to antiquities and museums. The agreement also focuses on the exchange of expertise in archaeological surveying and excavation, as well as the implementation of joint training programmes.
