Brussels: Dr. Mohammed Ali Behzad, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Bahrain’s Mission to the European Union, participated in a working breakfast meeting between representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with the Arab Peninsula (DARP). Discussions focused on regional developments, particularly the Iranian attacks targeting GCC states.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Reinhold Lopatka, Chair of the DARP delegation, condemned the Iranian attacks on GCC countries, including those affecting civilians and critical infrastructure such as energy facilities. He described the escalation as a serious threat to regional and international security, reiterating the delegation’s solidarity with GCC states. Members of the delegation highlighted the importance of safeguarding maritime routes and ensuring freedom of international navigation, noting the impact of current developments on global energy markets and the wider economy.
Dr. Behzad reiterated the unified GCC position rejecting Iranian violations of sovereignty and international law, describing them as a direct threat to regional stability. He noted that Bahrain, in coordination with GCC partners, continues to take necessary measures to protect its security and stability, as well as the safety of its citizens and residents, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. He also reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to coordination with international partners, particularly the European Union, to support efforts to preserve regional security and stability.
