Manama: Bahrain International Airport is set to enhance its terminal with the installation of a significant stained glass artwork by acclaimed artist Sir Brian Clarke. Following directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the piece titled ‘Concordia’ is scheduled to be installed this week.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the monumental work will measure 17 meters in height and 34 meters in width, making it one of the largest stained-glass installations in the region. Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah, CEO of Bahrain International Airport Company, expressed pride in showcasing Sir Brian Clarke’s work, emphasizing its role in enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the terminal and highlighting the airport’s commitment to art and culture.
Sir Brian Clarke, recognized as a significant figure in modern stained glass, has created works for architectural landmarks globally. His collaborations with renowned architects like Zaha Hadid and Norman Foster have garnered international acclaim. Clarke’s work is featured in significant locations, including the Al Faisaliah Center in Riyadh and the Mosque of King Khalid International Airport. The installation at Bahrain Airport will explore the interplay of light and color, offering a unique visual experience to travelers.
