Baca: The Art Centre of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), in collaboration with the Bahrain Arts Society, continues its series of specialised art workshops as part of the programme held alongside the first edition of the "Almasyaf" Summer Art Show, which runs until September 5.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the workshops are designed to encourage participants to experiment with new techniques and create works that explore different compositions and forms of visual expression. The programme offers a creative environment for developing ideas, experimenting with materials, and broadening participants' artistic practice.
Previous workshops featured artist Sayed Hasan Al Sari, who introduced participants to innovative approaches to abstract art, focusing on the fundamental elements of composition, design, and colour. Participants engaged in experimenting with different colour combinations and compositions, creating artworks that reflect their individual perspectives.
Artist Ahmed Anan led an advanced workshop on sculptural making, guiding participants through the stages of creating three-dimensional works, from modelling and mould-making to casting and painting. The use of clay and a variety of materials and techniques allowed participants to transform their creative ideas into three-dimensional artworks.
Artist Thoraya Amin presented a workshop on 3D Textured Art, encouraging participants to explore texture as a means of enhancing visual composition, using simple materials such as cardboard, tissue paper, and adhesive tape.
On Saturday, August 29, artist Shaima Haji will present "Rug Tufting," introducing participants to tufting fundamentals and the use of a tufting gun. Participants will apply these skills to design and create their own rugs, reflecting their individual style and creativity.
The programme will conclude with "The Art of Ebru: Water Marbling," presented by artist Yousif Alaradi on Saturday, September 5. The workshop will introduce participants to the traditional art of Ebru, where colours are applied to the surface of water and manipulated to create patterns before being transferred onto paper. Participants will explore the technique's fundamentals while developing their understanding of colour, movement, and composition, enriching their artistic practice and expanding the learning experiences offered through the educational programme accompanying the "Almasyaf" Summer Art Show at the Art Centre.
