Trieste: Artist Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the RAK Art Foundation, participated in the international art exhibition "East Meets West," which was recently opened in the Italian city of Trieste. The event is part of an ongoing artistic project that aims to promote cultural exchange and foster dialogue between Eastern and Western artistic traditions.
According to Bahrain News Agency, on the sidelines of the event, artist Rashid Al Khalifa met with Roberto Dipiazza, Mayor of Trieste, who expressed his appreciation for Rashid Al Khalifa's work and his artistic vision.
The exhibition, held at the historic Palazzo Tergesteo, explores the concept of "lightness" through three thematic pillars: Art and Life, Art and Music, and Art and Philosophy. It features works by a diverse group of artists from various cultural backgrounds, offering a creative and immersive experience that celebrates the convergence of East and West.
Commenting on his participation, artist Rashid Al Khalifa said: "I believe that art has the true power to transcend cultural and linguistic boundaries and create a human dialogue that crosses borders. My participation in this project stems from a deep conviction in the importance of supporting international artistic initiatives. The RAK Art Foundation is fully committed to backing projects that open new avenues for cross-cultural exchange and shared creative exploration."
He added: "International art initiatives serve as vital platforms for cultural dialogue and mutual understanding. In an increasingly interconnected world, art becomes a vital tool for breaking down barriers and fostering common ground between nations. At our foundation, we are committed to fostering diverse, inclusive creative spaces that promote collaboration and innovation."
The RAK Art Foundation maintains a close partnership with the Germany-based KLK Foundation, which leads the exhibition, sharing a vision of promoting art as a bridge between cultures. Laura Krainz-Leupoldt, the project curator, emphasized that Trieste, with its rich multicultural heritage and historic role as a crossroads between East and West, was the ideal city for hosting this event. She highlighted that the exhibition aims to present "lightness" not as superficiality but as a meaningful artistic and philosophical value that embodies authenticity, clarity, and inspiration.
The project is under the patronage of the Municipality of Trieste and the Trieste Press Club. Currently, the exhibition is open to small groups by invitation only but is expected to open to the public soon through guided tours, offering a unique space for artistic reflection and intercultural dialogue.
