Arab Union for Human Rights Condemns Iranian Interference Targeting Bahrain’s Sovereignty

Manama: The Arab Union for Human Rights (AUHR) has strongly condemned, in light of recent regional developments and the overt Iranian attacks witnessed across the region, all violations and interference targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

According to Bahrain News Agency, these actions constitute a clear infringement of the principles of national sovereignty and the rules of international law. The union added that such practices, given their serious implications, place legal and moral responsibility on those behind them and warrant accountability before relevant international frameworks and competent bodies.

The AUHR stressed that Bahrain and GCC states have the full right under international law to take all necessary measures to protect national security, safeguard sovereignty, maintain stability, and defend their interests and achievements. It added that the grave attacks and violations against these states may have amounted to grave legal offences requiring urgent international action to prevent impunity, including recourse to relevant international judicial mechanisms.

The Union held the responsible parties fully accountable and called for activating legal accountability mechanisms against them, including prosecution before international judicial bodies, to ensure justice and deter any actions that threatened regional security and international peace.

The AUHR also renewed its call on the international community to take a clear and firm stance against these attacks and violations in order to preserve security and stability in the region.

The Union commended the firm legal measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to strengthen security and stability, protect its territory, citizens and residents, and safeguard its national achievements. It said these measures reflect a responsible approach that balances national security needs with social stability and the protection of human security.

The AUHR also commended the significant efforts of Bahrain's security services across all sectors in maintaining public order, strengthening public reassurance, and countering attempts to destabilise security, harm civil peace, or target state assets. It said these efforts had effectively contributed to protecting society's rights and reinforcing a safe and stable environment in the Kingdom.

The Union expressed its support for Bahrain's legal measures within the framework of accountability against all those involved in threatening the Kingdom's security or undermining its safety and stability, including sovereign decisions to revoke citizenship from those proven to have supported or glorified acts that endangered the state. It said that these measures fell within the state's right to protect its legal and sovereign entity and were carried out in line with internationally recognised legal safeguards and judicial and security procedures.

The AUHR underscored the importance of reinforcing national unity and called for consolidating support for the leadership as a key means of addressing current challenges. It also condemned any deviation from national principles, rejecting all actions or incitement that could harm Bahrain's security, undermine its sovereignty, or target its institutions, infrastructure, or public safety.

The Union further condemned media campaigns it described as misleading and directed against Bahrain, which it said aimed to distort facts and weaken confidence in national institutions. It urged reliance on official and credible sources of information, and warned against engagement with narratives that could fuel division or undermine stability. It underlined that safeguarding security and stability is a shared responsibility requiring collective awareness and a firm commitment to national values, and reiterated the importance of continued cooperation to protect national gains and ensure the safety and stability of all citizens and residents in the Kingdom.
