SCH Chairman and Health Minister Welcome New CEO for Disease Prevention and Control

Manama: Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Khaled Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), and Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, received Colonel Dr. Manaf Mohammed Al Qahtani on the occasion of his appointment as Chief Executive Officer for Disease Prevention and Control at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Health Council, a part of the GCC Secretariat.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah congratulated Colonel Dr. Al Qahtani on his new role, highlighting the valuable contributions of Bahraini medical talent to the Kingdom of Bahrain. He acknowledged the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The SCH Chairman expressed his wishes for Colonel Dr. Al Qahtani's success in his responsibilities.

The Chairman further underscored the strategic importance of enhancing joint Gulf coordination within the health sector. He emphasized that cooperation among GCC states is crucial for regional health security, achieved through shared expertise and aligned policies.

The Health Minister, Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, also extended her congratulations to Colonel Dr. Al Qahtani, acknowledging his professionalism and wishing him success in promoting Gulf health cooperation. She reiterated Bahrain's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty the King and the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to support joint Gulf health initiatives. The Minister emphasized that closer cooperation is vital for improving responses to cross-border health challenges and for building an effective, data-driven prevention system across the region.

Colonel Dr. Al Qahtani expressed pride in his appointment and affirmed his dedication to developing preventive health systems in alignment with sustainable development goals.
