Manama: Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs and Chairman of the 'Maan' (Together) Committee Against Violence and Addiction, received a delegation from the University of North Carolina in the United States, led by Professor David Wyrick, as part of ongoing academic and research cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and international universities.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting reviewed the joint study conducted by the Maan Regional Centre for Research and Training and the University of North Carolina on the Maan curriculum for peaceful coexistence and countering extremism. The study showed significant positive results, reflected in students' stronger practice of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Post-study survey findings showed marked improvement compared with the pre-study survey.
Shaikh Hisham commended these outcomes, describing them as an important step towards promoting moderation and constructive dialogue in educational and community settings. He emphasised the need to continue and expand the study to achieve further positive results.
The meeting also discussed the joint research paper published in the International Journal of Public Health, one of the outcomes of the scientific partnership. Shaikh Hisham said the publication reflects international recognition of Bahrain's research initiatives and underscores the Kingdom's active contribution to supporting scientific efforts globally.
He underscored Bahrain's commitment to strengthening openness and cooperation with international research and academic institutions, thereby consolidating the Kingdom's position as a regional hub for research and training and advancing initiatives that promote peace and human security locally and internationally.
