Manama: The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has launched the 13th edition of the Human Rights Fellowship Programme, targeting academics, university students, human rights defenders, and those interested in conducting independent research in the field.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the programme, first initiated in 2019, aims to enhance critical thinking and analytical skills in addressing human rights issues. It seeks to boost participants' abilities in innovation and creativity to contribute to effective solutions for the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms.
The programme offers a comprehensive training curriculum that combines theoretical and practical components, designed to deepen participants' understanding of both Bahraini and international human rights legislation. It includes specialised lectures on scientific research, field visits to relevant institutions, and offers an overview of the NIHR's mandates in protection and promotion.
This initiative is a part of NIHR's ongoing efforts to promote and entrench a culture of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain and to broaden community partnership in this field. Since its inception, the programme has drawn over 200 participants from various academic and professional backgrounds.
