Tokyo: The Japanese yen hovered near its lowest level in four decades on Friday as markets awaited possible intervention by authorities to support the currency. The yen rose 0.1% against the US dollar to 161.205, after falling to a two-year low in the previous session.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the US dollar index, which measures the currency against a basket of six major currencies, was little changed at 100.81. The euro traded at USD 1.1459, while sterling stood at USD 1.3205.
Bitcoin slipped 0.2% to USD 62,868.18, while Ether remained steady at USD 1,708.98.
