Workshop to identify government’s future priorities in the legislative field held

The second workshop to identify government priorities in the future was held here today.

The workshop, focusing on the legislative theme, is in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to hold workshops to identify the key priorities that will shape the government’s future aspirations.

It is the second of the five workshops devoted to identifying the future aspirations of government work. They focus on the following priorities, namely infrastructure and environment, legislation, social services work, finance and economy, in addition to government performance and digital transformation.

Parliament Affairs Minister, Ghanim fin Fadhl Al-Buainain, chaired the workshop, which was also attended by undersecretaries, assistant undersecretaries and the relevant directors involved in the legislative system in government departments.

Addressing the meeting, the minister indicated that the legislative theme workshop aims to enhance the output of government work in order to achieve excellence in its performance, improve the quality of its services and meet the aspirations of the comprehensive development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

It is also in line with the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to involve the relevant officials from government departments in identifying the key priorities that will shape the government’s future aspirations, he said.

Minister Al-Buainain pointed out that the ongoing efforts to lay the foundations of fruitful cooperation among various government departments aim to strengthen the national legislative system and contribute to its development, expressing hope that more successes and achievements will be attained at the legislative level during the next phase in order to enhance the kingdom’s pioneering status in this field.

He stressed that the legislative theme is one of the main priorities of the Kingdom, in line with its keenness to consolidate justice, equality and the principle of the rule of law, as well as safeguard security, and support the democratic process through legislation that achieves national interests.

The Parliament Affairs Minister revealed that four future policies, to be implemented through 17 initiatives, had been identified in the legislative theme. They are strengthening the concept of justice and consolidating people’s freedoms, developing legislation to ensure that it keeps pace with the comprehensive development process, developing the justice system and litigation services, setting regulatory procedures, and ensuring integration and coordination in the development of legislation.

He said that the outcomes of the legislative theme workshop will be highlighted during the “Future Priorities” workshop, to be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

It is worth noting that the workshop’s coordination meeting was held recently. During the meeting, the visions of the relevant government departments were received, sorted, classified, and approved by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs, prior to the workshop.
