Manama: Shaikh Mishal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works, announced the completion of a new two-lane U-turn on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway at its junction with Zallaq Highway for traffic heading north towards Manama. The new link has now been opened to motorists as part of the ministry's ongoing road improvement programme to enhance traffic flow across the Kingdom.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the 1.3-kilometre route is designed to improve access to communities east of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway, including Al Raffa, by reducing journey distances, easing traffic pressure at the Zallaq Highway junction, and improving overall traffic movement in the area.
The scheme also included widening the right-turn connection from Zallaq Highway onto Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway to two lanes, as well as carrying out the necessary utility diversion and protection works.
Shaikh Mishal stated that the project forms part of the ministry's broader strategy to upgrade Bahrain's transport infrastructure through targeted road projects that improve network efficiency, facilitate smoother journeys, and enhance road safety for all users.
