Works Ministry: 81% of Services for Individuals and Institutions Digitised

Manama: Huda Mirza Al Salman, Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services at the Ministry of Works, underscored that the ministry continues to digitise several services as part of the government's digital transformation program, which aims to improve service quality, efficiency, and speed.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Salman explained that the percentage of digital services provided to individuals, companies, and government entities has recently increased to 81%. To achieve full digital transformation and integration between government entities, the ministry has linked certain internal systems and e-services with those of other government agencies.

She noted that the digital transformation process has reduced service delivery costs by 78% and simplified procedures by approximately 47%, expediting requests for individuals and institutions. She also announced the launch of new e-services, expanding the ministry's digital offerings to enhance service quality and streamline processes. These services can be accessed via the national portal bahrain.bh or the ministry's website.

Al Salman highlighted the launch of the confined spaces permit, which is available to all private sector companies executing projects for the Ministry of Works. This permit enables them to carry out activities in confined spaces safely under the supervision of the ministry's Security and Safety Department.

Additionally, the midday work ban exemption permit was introduced, allowing private sector companies working on ministry projects to obtain approval for urgent, non-deferrable work during the summer midday ban in July and August. These works must be carried out safely under the supervision of the Ministry of Works and with approval from the Security and Safety Department, in line with the permit issued by the Ministry of Labour.

Al Salman added that a parking meter fee exemption service has also been introduced for eligible individuals. New exemption requests can be submitted through municipal councils, while renewal applications can be submitted by citizens and residents with the required documents attached.

Al Salman emphasised that e-services have enhanced service efficiency within an integrated framework that directly reduces operational costs, improves performance monitoring, and enhances quality.
