Bahrain: The General Sports Authority announced the launch of the Women's Equal Opportunities League during a press conference held at Bahrain National Stadium. This initiative follows the directives of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee. The league aims to support women's participation in sports within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the league is organized in cooperation with the equal opportunities committee in the sports sector, the Supreme Council for Women, the Ministry of Education, the Higher Education Council, and relevant sports federations. It will feature competitions in three sports: football, basketball, and volleyball, specifically targeting participants aged over 15. A total of 18 teams will take part across these sports.
Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, Chief Executive Officer of the General Sports Authority, stated that the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to support women's sports and aims to provide a structured environment that encourages participation and development. The conference also included a review of the league's identity and logo, competition schedule, and the role of participating sports federations in supporting the initiative.
