The United States welcomed the agreement concluded by Iraq with the French company Total (EPA: TTEF) Energize to boost production in the fields of oil, gas and renewable energy.
"This huge agreement, which includes participation from regional and American companies, was officially signed this week and is a major step towards achieving Iraq's energy self-sufficiency and meeting its climate goals," Jake Sullivan, National Security Adviser to the White House, said in a tweet.
