Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing at the Ministry of Interior, announced the launch of the "Second Chance Award". The award was inaugurated by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, during the First International Conference on Alternative Sentencing held last June. Registration will be open from December 1-31, with the winner to be announced in February 2026.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid explained that the award aims to honour outstanding beneficiaries of alternative sentencing programmes who have shown genuine commitment, a clear ability to change positively, and constructive reintegration into society. He noted that the initiative seeks to highlight inspiring examples of those who embraced their second chance and achieved success stories worthy of recognition.
He added that launching the award comes under the directives of the Interior Minister, to develop qualitative initiatives that reinforce the human-centred approach within the rehabilitative justice system and provide beneficiaries with incentives and support to continue progressing towards a better life.
The Director General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing concluded by emphasising the General Directorate's commitment to continuing programmes and initiatives that enable beneficiaries to develop and reintegrate positively, calling on all eligible beneficiaries to register, participate, and showcase their success stories to the community.
