Manama: Shaikh Meshaal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, and Nawal Ibrahim Al Khater, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, recently conducted an inspection of several government schools undergoing extensive maintenance, including Bait Al Hikma Primary School for Girls and Isa Town Secondary School for Boys.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Meshaal bin Mohammed announced that the Ministry of Works has initiated maintenance on 27 government schools during the summer break. This extensive project, costing 9 million Bahraini dinars, aims to prepare these schools for the 2025-2026 academic year. The maintenance efforts encompass civil, mechanical, and electrical upgrades, including repainting, repairing doors and windows, replacing water and electrical systems, and installing energy-saving lighting and heat-insulated windows.
Shaikh Meshaal bin Mohammed highlighted that the ministry is working in coordination with the Ministry of Education to prioritise schools that are most in need. This initiative is part of an annual plan focused on preserving the safety of school buildings, enhancing learning environments, extending the lifespan of facilities, and ensuring operational efficiency.
In her remarks, Nawal Ibrahim Al Khater stressed the Ministry of Education's continued preparations for the upcoming school year. She noted the completion of maintenance on over 29,000 air-conditioning units and the installation of approximately 5,000 new units. Al Khater assured that dedicated teams will be in place to ensure the efficiency of these units and to address any emergencies. The maintenance projects adhere to sustainability standards, utilising high-quality, eco-friendly materials to maintain long-term educational quality.
