UN Warns of Escalating Humanitarian Crisis in Sudan

Manama: The United Nations has issued a warning regarding the rapidly worsening humanitarian situation in Sudan, driven by intensified conflicts across multiple regions.

According to Bahrain News Agency, UN Secretary General Spokesperson St©phane Dujarric reported that the ongoing hostilities have led to the displacement of approximately 47,000 individuals in West Kordofan State. In addition, about 6,000 people have been forced to leave Abu Shouk camp and El Fasher in North Darfur this month alone.

The crisis is further compounded by escalating food prices and a cholera outbreak in Khartoum State. Dujarric emphasized the critical need for increased humanitarian funding to address these challenges. Currently, only USD 552 million has been secured out of the USD 2.4 billion that is necessary to meet the humanitarian needs.
