UN Secretary General and GCC Secretary General Discuss Regional Security and Cooperation

Manama: Ant³nio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), received Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), on the sidelines of Albudaiwi's participation in the UN Security Council High-Level Open Debate. The two sides reviewed the latest developments in the region and their impact on regional and international security, stability, and economy.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Albudaiwi emphasized the threat posed by Iranian attacks against the GCC states, which target infrastructure and aim to destabilize the region. He highlighted the necessity of stopping these attacks and deterring Iran from its aggressive policies to safeguard international peace and security.

The UN Secretary General expressed his renewed solidarity with the GCC states against the Iranian attacks and reiterated the importance of halting these attacks that threaten security and stability.

The meeting also served as an opportunity for both leaders to exchange views on regional matters and ongoing efforts, as well as to explore ways to enhance cooperation between the GCC and the UN.
