Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has announced the closure of its embassy in the Iranian capital, Tehran, along with the withdrawal of its ambassador and entire diplomatic mission. This decision comes as a response to Iranian missile attacks targeting the UAE's territory and civilian sites.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement highlighting that the attacks impacted residential areas, airports, ports, and service facilities. The Ministry described these incidents as a significant escalation that poses a threat to civilian lives and contravenes national sovereignty, international law, and the Charter of the United Nations.
The Ministry emphasized that the closure of the embassy reflects the UAE's unwavering stance against any aggression that jeopardizes its security and sovereignty. It expressed concerns that Iran's ongoing actions hinder de-escalation efforts and propel the region toward dangerous paths, thereby compromising regional and international security and stability. Additionally, these developments are seen as detrimental to energy security and the stability of the global economy.
