UAE Cyber Security Council Thwarts Cyberattacks Targeting Financial Sector

Abu dhabi: The UAE Cyber Security Council (CSC) announced that the country's national cybersecurity system had successfully thwarted a series of sophisticated cyberattacks targeting entities in the financial sector, safeguarding critical digital infrastructure and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of financial services, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the council said the attacks were detected and contained in accordance with national cybersecurity protocols, limiting their impact and preserving the stability of the country's digital ecosystem.

The CSC detailed that the attacks included attempts to target digital systems and technical infrastructure, conduct phishing campaigns, exploit security vulnerabilities, and deploy malicious software. It was noted that attackers are increasingly using artificial intelligence to develop more advanced cyberattack techniques.

The council explained that the national cybersecurity system continues to implement proactive measures, including continuous monitoring, cyber threat intelligence sharing, enhanced preparedness, and strengthened early detection and rapid response capabilities. It also urged all entities to comply with national cybersecurity policies, strengthen preventive security measures, regularly update their systems, and promptly report suspicious cyber activities through official channels.

Furthermore, the CSC emphasised that the UAE's advanced cybersecurity capabilities and strategic partnerships enable it to respond effectively to evolving cyber threats, protect the financial sector, ensure the continuity of vital services, and maintain customer confidence.
